FireLite glass is made from transparent glass ceramic, and differs in color from ordinary float glass. FireLite appears to have a warmer earth tone when compared to the blue green tint of float glass. However, like float glass, FireLite ceramic will not demonstrate a highly perceptible color once installed in a frame.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NT-STANDARD AND PLUS GRADE FIRELITE?
FireLite ceramic glass is available in three distinct surface grades, including Premium, Standard and Obscure (for privacy by quote). Both Standard (NT) and Plus Grade FireLite provide a clear, wireless surface condition.
NT Grade FireLite is polished for a surface quality that is comparable to alternative fire-rated ceramics marketed as having a premium finish.
PLUS Grade FireLite (email for a quote) is finish ground and polished on both surfaces to provide superior surface quality, improving overall clarity and providing a surface that is unmatched by alternative products.
IS WIRE GLASS STILL AVAILABLE - WHAT IS THE COST?
Safety Wire Glass is available by quote. Traditional wire glass was removed as approved for safety application under the last revision to national building codes. Check your local building codes for approval of traditional wire glass. See our July 19 newsletter for a full explanation of the change.
IS THERE ANY LESS EXPENSIVE CLEAR GLASS?
We have a very economical clear glass for 20-minute doors that do not require the hose test. Please contact us for a quote.
